The Party Central Committee assigned the Politburo to direct the Government Party Committee, based on the Central policy, to instruct the Government to finalize the proposal and related dossiers in accordance with regulations for submission to the first session of the 16th National Assembly (NA) for consideration and decision.

Located in the Southeastern region, Dong Nai province covers more than 12,700 square kilometers and has a population of nearly 4.5 million, placing it among the five most populous localities nationwide.

Under Resolution No. 112 of the NA Standing Committee on administrative unit standards, a centrally governed city must meet seven basic criteria. A review shows that Dong Nai has basically met or exceeded key thresholds.

Looking ahead, Dong Nai aims to become a “gateway” of the Southeastern key economic region, the Southern region and the country, following a model as an industrial hub, modern urban center, logistics hub and high-tech agricultural center.

In 2025, Dong Nai’s GRDP reached approximately VND677.93 trillion, with state budget revenue of VND102.96 trillion and GRDP per capita at VND152.8 million. The province ranks fourth nationwide in terms of economic scale.
