Cultural activities to commemorate Hung Kings’ death anniversary

(ĐN)- Politburo members offered incense and laid wreathes to commemorate the legend of the nations father and mother, Lac Long Quan and Au Co, and Hung Kings’ at their temples in northern Phu Tho Province yesterday.

The national commemoration of Hung Kings was considered an opportunity for the Vietnamese people to express their gratitude to their ancestors.

 

Politburo member and Party Central Committee Secretariat permanent member Truong Tan Sang led the delegation.

 

At the ceremony, Phu Tho Provincial Partys Committee Secretary Nguyen Doan Khanh gave a briefing on preparations to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a world intangible cultural heritage the commemoration of Hung Kings and the 2011 Hung Temple Festival, the research on xoan (spring folk singing) and "the worship of Hung Kings".

 

Politburo members applauded the provincial efforts in the preparation and organisation of cultural and sport activities and urged the province to prepare for the Hung Kings Memorial scheduled on Tuesday.

 

In Dong Nai, a solemn ceremony to offer incense to the nation’s forefathers, the Hung Kings, was also held at Hung Temple in Binh Da ward, Bien Hoa city today.

 

Earlier, on April 11, a ceremony to celebrate the death anniversary of Hung King was organized at Hung Vuong junior school in Bien Hoa city. More than 1,000 teachers and pupils participated in the ceremony. At the ceremony, the participants reviewed traditions, offered incense, and took part in traditional cultural activities.
