The first turbine began turning on December 26, three months ahead of schedule. The turbines have a combined capacity of 500MW and are forecast to generate 11-12 million kWh of electricity each day.
Construction of the US$700 million plant in Ong Keo Industrial Park in Nhon Trach District began in June 2009, as part of the nations 2006-15 power plan.
