According to the report, Dong Nai maintained stable socio-economic development in the first quarter.Accordingly, the province’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the three-month period is estimated to reach more than VND9.2 trillion, fulfilling 22.4 percent of the year’s plan, a year-on-year increase of 13.1 percent. Particularly, the industry-construction sector and services increased over 14, agriculture - forestry - fishery sector up 3.8%.
However, Dong Nai’s March consumer price index increased by 2.44 percent from previous month and 5.7 percent over the end of last year.
During the reviewed period, Dong Nai attracted US$84.3 million in foreign direct investment and VND2.1 trillion in domestic investment, year-on-year decreases of 26.8 percent and 90.6 percent respectively.
Addressing at the conference, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot asked the departments, agencies and localities to work out specific action plan for implementing the government’s resolution No.11 effectively with a focus on major tasks: tightening the monetary policy, cutting public investment and reducing State overspending; stepping up production and business, restraining trade deficit and effectively using energy.
He also stressed that efforts must be made to improve macro-stability to ensure a balanced provincial economy and to promote economic development.
On this occasion, Chairman required the agencies and localities to intensify propaganda work relating to voters’ rights and obligations as well as preparations at the grassroots level to make the coming election become voters’ festive day.
