Activities mark Youth Union’s 80th anniversary

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai, Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Bui Ngoc Thanh, Chairwoman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga, leaders of departments and agencies, and more than 3,000 youth members and students.

Meeting marks Youth Unions 80th anniversary

The meeting began with an art performance.

At the meeting, Secretary of Dong Nai provincial Youth Union Bui Xuan Thong reviewed the glorious tradition of the union over the past 80 years and said that Dong Nai’s young generations contributed to developing national prosperity citing bright examples such as Dieu Sieng, Ho Thi Huong, Bui Van Binh. During peacetime, the young people are ready to take part in production projects, such as reclaiming wild land and building youth communities. They voluntarily go to disadvantaged areas to assume demanding work to develop the province in particular and the country in general.

Secretary Tran Dinh Thanh highly appreciated efforts made by the union and its branches over the past time and hoped that the young people will continue to promote the glorious tradition and inherit the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation and the province. He emphasized that the union should combine its activities with common national programmes, especially in developing economics and culture, maintaining political and social stability and strengthening national defence and security. The union should also diversify its activities and encourage youth to participate in movements, especially in disadvantaged areas, help youth develop good sociability and improve their qualifications and skills, integration and creative abilities as well as the ability to apply advanced scientific technologies to create high quality human resources that will serve the provincial industrialization and modernization movements and to fulfill socio-economic development tasks.

At the meeting, 34 youth projects and 46 outstanding youth members were honored.

Diverse activities have been also held across the province to celebrate Youth Union 80th anniversary

Earlier, the youth members provided free medical check-ups and medicine to 200 poor people and policy beneficiaries, presented 70 scholarships worth nearly VND70 million to primary students in Cam My district and Bien Hoa city.

On this occasion, Bien Hoa city-based Binh Da ward’s youth members visited and presented 21 gifts to disabled children living in the ward. The gifts, worth VND400,000 each, included instant noodle, cake, milk and cash.
