(ĐN)- Dong Nai witnessed a substantial decrease in the number of road traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities in 2010. According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, 988 traffic accidents occurred in Dong Nai during the year 2010, killing 332 people and injuring 1,287 others.

According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, 988 traffic accidents occurred in Dong Nai during the year 2010, killing 332 people and injuring 1,287 others, showing a decrease of 974 cases in the number of road accidents, a reduction of 65 people in deaths and 353 people in injures when compared to 2009. Especially, Dong Nai saw an increase of 18 per cent in the number of railway accidents last year, in which killed 11 people and injured 3 others.
22 per cent of road accidents were caused by car drivers, while nearly 70 per cent were by motorbike riders and other transportation means.
Traffic accidents in province were mostly caused by carelessness and poor awareness on the part of drivers.
The highest rates of traffic accidents were found in national highways in the province.
