(ĐN)- The Executive committee of the Dong Nai provincial Buddhist Sangha has recently organized a conference to review Buddhist activities in 2010 at To Dinh Long Thien pagoda in Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province with the attendance of Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation Bui Ngoc Thanh.
Over the past year. Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the province actively participated in social and charitable activities. Particularly, they poured over VND 26 billion in humanitarian activities last year. The donation was channeled to aid the poor, typhoon victims and social policy beneficiaries through building houses, presenting gifts, providing free medical treatment and financial aids.
At the ceremony, four Buddhist dignitaries including Superior Buddhist Monk Thich Minh Chanh, Head of the provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee, Superior Buddhist Monk Thich Quang Dao and Most Venerable Thich Hue Hien, Deputy Heads of the provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee and chief nun Thich Nu Hue Huong were conferred medals by the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission in recognition of their contributions to the Party’s mass mobilisation, which helped to enhance solidarity and create unanimity among Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the province.
