Construction of new Hoa An bridge in Bien Hoa city starts

(ĐN)- A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of new Hoa An bridge took place on December 24 in Bien Hoa city. Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot and representatives from the ministries of Construction and Transportation attended the event.

This project is owned by the Provincial People’s Committee. It is invested by Sonadezi company and built by Construction Corporation No.1 under the Ministry of Construction. New Hoa An project will be carried out under the BT (build-transfer) form with a total investment of over VND1 trillion. The new bridge with the length of over 1,306 meters and the width of 16.5 meters, will have four motorised lanes and two rudimentary vehicle lanes. New Hoa An bridge is expected to open to traffic by early 2014. The new bridge will help ease the burden for the aging Hoa An Bridge. The new bridge will take vehicles from Ho Chi Minh city towards Bien Hoa City and the old bridge is for the other way, heading to Ho Chi Minh city.

Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai said that the existing bridge cannot meet current demand and it does not adequately serve current volume. Traffic jams often occur on the existing bridge during peak hours. He also stated that it would be necessary to build a new bridge to meet increasing traffic demands. He said that the new bridge will help to stir up the economic development of Bien Hoa city and Dong Nai province in particularly and will be an impetus for the socio-economic development of the region in generally.
