21st session of 7th Provincial People’s Council opens

(ĐN)- The 21st session of the 7^th provincial People’s Council opened in Dong Nai on December 6. The session is co-presided over by Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council. Mr. Huynh Chi Thang, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council and Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, member of the provincial People’s Council.

In his opening speech, Chairman Tran Dinh Thanh said 2010 was a challenging year for economic development in Dong Nai province as the impact of the global economic downturn was felt across the country. However, the provincial leaders and local people have made efforts to overcome difficulties to maintain a high economic growth rate during the global economic recession. Thanks to joint efforts by local agencies, localities’ authorities, businesses and people, the province has maintained reasonable growth rate and made positive changes in environmental protection while ensuring social welfare, improving people’s living standards and assuring political security, social order and safety.

However, the Chairman also pointed out shortcomings that needed to be addressed such as unsustainable economic growth, slow economic restructuring, underdeveloped infrastructure and slow administrative reform…

During the 4-day session, delegates will participate in discussion of the implementation of socioeconomic tasks in 2010 and goals and tasks for 2011.

The session will be closed on December 9.
