According to the newly – issued Decree 107/2010/ND-CP governing the minimum wage in foreign-invested enterprises and Decree 108/2010/ND-CP on the minimum wage in Vietnamese enterprises, different minimums will be in effect in four separate regions of the country depending on the cost of living in each region.
The new minimum wages are VND 100,000 - 370,000 higher than the current levels, and are the basis for other wages, subsidies and remuneration.
Accordingly, the new monthly minimum wages for labourers in foreign-invested enterprises will be VND 1,550,000; VND 1,350,000; VND 1,170,000; VND 1,100,000 in regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively; and for labourers in Vietnamese enterprises they will stand at VND 1,350,000; VND 1,200,000; VND 1,050,000; VND 830,000 respectively.
