Over VND636 bil raised to help Dong Nai’s war veterans to develop production

The Association now has roughly 27000 members. Over the past ten years, the Association mobilized and provided loans totaling more than VND636 billion to its members to develop production. Accordingly, 165 collectives and 630 member households have gained good production and business results and each makes between VND 100 million and VND 1 billion in profit per year. During the period, the association has helped to significantly reduce the rate of poor war veteran families from 10% in 2001 to 2% in 2010. In addition, the Association donated over VND 16 billion to social and charity activities, offered around 8,000 square meters of land for construction of public works, built thousands of kilometres of rural roads and 130 bridges in the province…

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ao Van Thinh praised efforts made by the Association to help its members to develop production, improving their living standards and reducing the number of poor households. Thinh also urged the association to promote the campaign of following late president Ho Chi Minh’s moral example as well as the campaign to ensure mutual supports among its members.
