(ĐN)- A total of 778 traffic accidents were reported in Dong Nai during the first nine months of this year. The death toll was 252 while 1,021 others were injured. Compared to same period in 2009, cases of traffic accident decreased by 13%, the death by over 10% and the injured by nearly 16%.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Vinh said during the meeting with the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee on Friday for reviewing the traffic safety situation in the province in the first nine months of 2010 that the transport sector must focus on upgrading the transport infrastructure system in the province such as roads, bridges, ports … in order to ensure traffic safety. He also asked relevant agencies to strengthen communication and education to raise the awareness and responsibilities on traffic safety for local residents as well as carry out strict enforcement measures.
