(ĐN)- The plummeting demand for pig meat in the wake of blue ear pig disease outbreaks in Dong Nai has led to a sharp rise in prices of fish and chicken over the last 10 days.
Fish prices have increased, with freshwater fish showing an increase of 3,000- 4,000 VND per kilo. In some markets in Bien Hoa city, anabas testudineus is sold at 48,000 VND a kilo, snakehead fish sold at 45,000 VND a kilo and Carp and Red Tilapia prices are currently 38,000 VND a kilo.
The price of chicken has also increased by 5,000 VND per kilo compared to the middle of June.
The prices have been rising steeply because more and more people are turning to fish and chicken in fear of blue ear pig disease outbreak.
Meanwhile, traders said the price of pig meat has decreased by 3,000 – 5,000 VND per kilo in a week.
