More than 6,000 students and soldiers in the province joined the 2010 summer voluntary campaign launched by the provincial Youth Union.
During the campaign, the volunteers fanned out to inner precincts to help people and poor children. Particularly, the voluntary youths built and handed over five compassionate houses totaling more than VND100 million to difficult households; they also mobilized over VND300 million to upgrade 11 gratitude and charity houses, donate 50 computers, present 2,250 gifts, 150 scholarships, 10,000 notebooks, 1,500 pens and 17 bicycles to disadvantage children in remote areas; besides, the volunteers collected more than 7 tons of garbage, dredged 88 km of canals, planted 1,500 trees, donated 797 units of blood, provided free medical check-ups and medicine to poor people, visited and presented 1,500 gifts to policy families, Vietnamese heroic mothers and poor families, etc.
At the ceremony, the provincial Youth Union awarded certificates of merit to 15 units and 13 individuals for their outstanding achievements in 2010 summer voluntary campaign.
