(ĐN)- Nhon Trach district’s Study Promotion Association has just awarded scholarships worth VND1.5 million each to 58 poor students living in the district.
On May 15, the association will hold a festival day of clay pig beating to raise fund for poor students. Around 11,000 clay pigs will be available on this day.
Over the past time, the association coordinated with Office of Education and Training launched a program to raise money for study encouragement fund by mobilizing locals to put money in their clay pigs. The clay pigs will be sent to the district’s Study Encouragement Association and all the proceeds will be used to help poor pupils continue their studies and award scholarships to outstanding students, etc.
In 2009, the district’s Study Promotion Association raised over VND1.3 billions from more than 8,500 clay pigs.
