(ĐN)- A grand ceremony was held at To Dinh Long Thien pagoda in Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province on May 28 (the fifteen day of the fourth lunar month) to celebrate the 2554th anniversary of Lord Buddha’s birthday. A large number of Buddhist dignitaries, believers and local authorities attended the event.

A large number of Buddhist dignitaries, believers and local authorities attended the event.
On this occasion, Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, the Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Patronage Council sent a message to Buddhist dignitaries, monks and nuns, and followers across the country. In his message, the Patriarch called on the dignitaries and followers to promote the traditions and tenets of Buddhism, and to make more contributions to the national construction and development.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Xuan Chien delivered a congratulatory message of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and extended the greetings from the Provincial Party Committee to Buddhist dignitaries, monks and nuns and followers in the province on the occasion, hailing their enthusiastic participation in numerous charitable and social programmes, movements and campaigns launched by the Fatherland Front and the provincial administration. The provincial leaders also called the dignitaries and followers to promote the tradition of national patriotism and Buddhism’s spirit of defending the nation and bringing peace to the people. They expressed their belief that Buddhist followers, under the motto of “Religion-Nation-Socialism”, would continue to make even greater contributions to the cause of national development.
At the event, the participants attended rituals and incense offerings in honour of the Lord Buddha and released pigeons to pray for peace.
