(ĐN)- At its annual shareholders’ meeting late last week, Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company announced to provide financial support to sugarcane growers in Dong Nai in order to develop material supply zones. Accordingly, farmers who sign supply contracts with Bien Hoa Sugar Company will receive a credit worth up to VND 70 million per household for sugarcane farming. In addition, they will buy seedlings and fertilizers from the company at a price much lower than the market price.
Thanks to favorable policies mapped out by the company for local sugarcane growers, the area under sugarcane cultivation has expanded to more than 2,000 hectares over the past two years. The company obtained around VND 130 billion in pre-tax profit in 2009. It targets nearly VND 100 billion in pre-tax profit this year.
