The district has over the past 35 years obtained important and comprehensive achievements in socio-economic development. Thong Nhat has registered an annual economic growth rate of 9.5 percent over the past years. There are now no hungry families in Thong Nhat and the rate of poor households has fallen by 7.9 percent (according to the national criteria). So far, the district have completed a programme to eliminate dilapidated houses of the poor. Apart from economic development, the district had encouraging achievements in culture, healthcare and education.
Before attending the ceremony, the delegations from the Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee and the Fatherland Front Committee of Thong Nhat district had laid wreaths at the district’s martyr cemetery and burned incenses to commemorate revolutionary soldiers who laid down their lives for national independence.
