(ĐN)- A grand meeting was held at the Provincial Conference Centre in Dong Nai on April 29 to mark the 35th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2010).
The celebration was attended by Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh, National Assembly Judicial Committee chairwoman Le Thi Thu Ba, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot, other leaders, the peoples armed forces, war veterans together with local people.
In his speech, Chairmman Vo Van Mot recalled the glorious history of the nation during the two resistance wars. Mot also highlighted the great significance of the victory on April 30, 1975 which effectively ended the general uprising and Ho Chi Minh campaign to liberate south Vietnam and achieve national unification. He noted that the April 30 Victory marked a turning point in the nation’s history. He highlighted the significant contributions made by the armed forces and people in Dong Nai to the country’s great victory.
Dong Nai is trying to develop rapidly and sustainably with the target of becoming a modern industrial hub of the Southern region, he said.
Also at the ceremony, former Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Phan Van Trang, who witnessed the event, recalled memories about Great Spring Victory in 1975.
At the celebration ceremony, the armed forces and people in the province took part in a demonstration.
The celebration closed with a spectacular firework display.
