Minister of Health Nguyen Quoc Trieu visits Dong Nai

At a meeting with the Minister of Health, the Head of the provincial Health Department briefed him on the achievements of the local health sector and the difficulties facing Dong Nai including a shortage of qualified medical personnel – particularly doctors … Over the past years, the province has recorded remarkable achievements in providing healthcare and medical support to local people, especially in reducing population growth rates and reducing the rate of malnutrition among children …. In addition, the hospitals in Dong Nai has invested to equip modern equipments to meet the soaring health care needs of local people.

The Minister of Health hailed the efforts of the local health sector in controlling infectious diseases as well as training medical personnel and improving the skills of doctors and nurses. He expressed his delight at the local health sector’s successful application of scientific and technological advances in its diagnoses and treatment. He also urged the provincial health sector to enhance the qualifications and ethics of its staff regularly.

On the same day, the Minister of Health visited the Dong Nai General Hospital to examine the cooperation between the hospital and the HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy that work in training surgeons and surgical personnel. The two sides committed to further mutual assistance, and cooperation for mutual benefits. The official cooperation program started in early March of 2010.  In the coming time, Dong Nai Paediatrics Hospital and Thong Nhat General Hospital will also sign the cooperation agreement with the HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
