(ĐN)- A solemn meeting was held in Dong Nai province on Feb. 3 to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Present at the event were Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Hong Phuong, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot, a large number of revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese heroic mothers, people from all walks of life in Dong Nai , and representatives from local agencies and departments.
In his speech, Secretary Tran Dinh Thanh reviewed the 80-year glorious history of the CPV. Thanh also noted with pride that the province has recorded significant achievements in socio-economic development and poverty reduction over the past years. With the concerted efforts of the Dong Nai provincial Party organisation and its people, the province posted a GDP growth rate of 9.3 per cent in 2009 with a per capita income of more than US$1,400. The local economy has been restructured on the right track, helping to improve local people’s living standards with the number of poor households dropping to 6.3 percent.
At the ceremony, Chairman Vo Van Mot called on local people to make greater efforts to make Dong Nai an industrial and modern province by 2015.
