Long Thanh district focuses on ethnic minority villages

(ĐN)- Long Thanh is now home to 4,568 ethnic minority people, who account for more than 2% of the district’s total population.

(ĐN)- Long Thanh is now home to 4,568 ethnic minority people, who account for more than 2% of the district’s total population. Over the past time, the district has implemented effectively ethnic policies, helping local ethnic people stabilize their lives and develop household economy.

Priorities have been given to the socio-economic development of ethnic minority groups. Accordingly, the district has focused on developing the infrastructure, transport network and irrigation system in areas inhabited by ethnic minority groups, applying advanced technologies in production, making the best use of each areas potential and strengths while protecting the environment and improving the quality of education, training and healthcare services.

Long Thanh has used available human and material resources to help ethnic villages of Cho Ro, S’tieng and Cham to upgrade local infrastructures, including electricity supplies, roads, clean water systems and houses. Besides, local poor ethnic households were provided with seeds and animals for breeding.

The district also assisted poor ethnic housholds with land for production and housing; assisted the poor with health care, gave vocational trainning for the poor with the aim of reducing the percentage of the poor.
