Provincial districts strive to fulfill socio-economic targets

(ĐN)- A delegation led by Head of the Mass Mobilization Department of the provincial Party Committee Bui Ngoc Thanh had a working session with Thong Nhat district’s leaders on the implementation of the provincial Party Committee’s Resolution 11.

According to the report, Thong Nhat achieved a GDP growth rate of 9.2 percent in the first six months of the year; of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector rose by 5.1 percent, the industry by more than 14 percent and the service by 21 percent.

Speaking at the working session, Mrs. Thanh expressed her hope that Thong Nhat district will continue its efforts to maintain a steady economic growth, improve the quality of education, speed up vocational training activities for rural laborers, further expand intensive cultivation of main plants, etc.

Xuan Loc’s social-economic situation in the past six months, although affected by the worldwide economic crisis, was still stably developing. Many key sectors and areas have obtained active achievements that facilitate the development in coming months.

The district’s GDP in first half was estimated to increase 12 percent over the same period while local budget collection increased by over 12 percent. During the first half, the district set up 3 cooperatives and 21 high-productivity clubs, provided stable jobs for more than 700 laborer, etc.

Mr. Thau hoped that the district will continue to tap its strength and potential to fulfill its socio-economic targets for 2009, with a focus on developing production.
