Provincial leaders congratulate Buddhist followers on Buddha’s birthday

(ĐN)- Bui Ngoc Thanh, Head of the Mass Mobilization Department of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee and representatives from the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the Provincial Religious Affairs Committee yesterday visited and presented gifts to high dignitaries and the Executive committee of the provincial Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of the upcoming birthday of the Buddha.

(ĐN)- Bui Ngoc Thanh, Head of the Mass Mobilization Department of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee and representatives from the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and the Provincial Religious Affairs Committee yesterday visited and presented gifts to high dignitaries and the Executive committee of the provincial Buddhist Sangha on the occasion of the upcoming birthday of the Buddha.

Mrs. Bui Ngoc Thanh extended congratulations from the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee to Buddhist monks and nuns and followers.  

Thanh praised efforts of the provincial Buddhist Sangha in doing religious affairs and charity work.

The Buddhist dignitaries also thanked the provincial authorities for their help and support over the past time and pledged that they would continue to encourage followers to make active contributions to the province’s socio-economic development.

* Earlier, the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front had sent best wishes to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers on the occasion of the 2,553rd birthday of Buddha

In a letter to Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers, the provincial leaders highlighted great efforts made by the Buddhist followers in implementing the Party and State’s policies, actively getting involved in patriotic emulations and campaigns launched by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, contributing to fulfilling the province’s key tasks including curbing inflation and ensuring social security and a GDP growth rate of 15.5 per cent in 2008, reducing the rate of poor households to 4.14 per cent and improving living standards of local people in Dong Nai.

The provincial leaders also expressed their belief that the Buddhist followers would continue promoting the tradition of patriotism, and make further practical contributions to building a strong great national unity bloc in the process of national construction and defense for the sake of a rich people, a strong country and a fair, democratic and civilized society. They also called Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers actively engage in patriotic emulations, contributing to fulfill socio-economic tasks for 2009.

* Yesterday noon, the Fatherland Front Committee of Xuan Thanh ward, Long Khanh townlet presented over 100 gifts worth VND 150,000 each for local poor households. Each gift included rice, instant noodles and cash.  Bao Son pagoda made the donation to buy these gifts for local poor households to mark the upcoming birthday of the Buddha.
