(ĐN)- A tree-planting campaign in commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh who initiated the annual movement in the spring of 1960 and in celebration of The International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22) was launched at Vinh Cuu Heritage and Nature Reserve Zone in Vinh Cuu district by the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee. Ao Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, representatives from local departments and agencies and 250 youth union members from Vinh Cuu district attended the launching ceremony.
In 2008, over 250,000 scattered trees and 320 hectares of concentrated forests were planted in the province. The province’s forest coverage reached 27.8 per cent last year. The province targets to plant between 350 hectares and 450 hectares of forests, increasing its forest coverage to 29 per cent.
After the launching ceremony concluded, 830 trees for timber were planted, covering an area of over 2 hectares in Vinh Cuu Heritage and Nature Reserve Zone.
On this occasion, 10 gifts worth VND 220,00 each were presented to policy families in Ma Da Commune, Vinh Cuu district. The amount of money was contributed by youth union members of the People-Government-Party block of Dong Nai province and Dong Nai Rubber Company.
