My Duy Thanh bestowed with certificate of merit from Dong Nai People’s Committee

(ĐN)- On February 22, My Duy Thanh and his classmates visited Cay Si Waterfall in Ngoc Dinh Commune, Dinh Quan district. Unluckily, Nguyen Lam Tuan Kiet, who was among his friends, slipped and fell down the waterfall.

(ĐN)- On February 22, My Duy Thanh and his classmates visited Cay Si Waterfall in Ngoc Dinh Commune, Dinh Quan district. Unluckily, Nguyen Lam Tuan Kiet, who was among his friends, slipped and fell down the waterfall. Immediately, Thanh dived into the water to save his friend. After bringing his friend near the edge of the bank, Thanh was swept away by a strong current and was drowned. His body was found by a group of divers on the following day.

On the morning of March 9, at Dinh Quan High School, the province’s Committee for Emulation and Rewards in coordination with the Provincial Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to honor My Duy Thanh, an 11th grade student at the school and grant a certificate of merit and gave VND 10 million for his family. Thanh was bestowed posthumously with a certificate of merit from the Provincal People’s Committee for his bravery in saving his friend from drowning. His parents, teachers and friends attended the ceremony.

Addressing at the ceremony, Director of the Provincal People’s Committee Le Minh Hoang said he shared the loss of Thanh with his family and school. Hoang also emphasized the need for students to be careful in dangerous areas and exercise more caution.
