The provincial Committee for Solidarity of Catholics summarizes emulation movement

(ĐN)- The Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in Dong Nai province recently held a meeting with the purpose of summarizing patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in 2008.

(ĐN)- The Committee for Solidarity of Catholics in Dong Nai province recently held a meeting with the purpose of summarizing patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in 2008. 

Over the past year, the Committee has successfully united and encouraged Catholics in the province to participate in emulation movements in production, economic development, and hunger eradication and poverty reduction. Catholic followers in the province have actively participated in charity activities and they raised money to build 167 houses and repair 110 houses for the poor, offer scholarships to more than 5,000 outstanding poor students and provide free medical check-ups and medicines for over 40,000 poor people and so on.

During the past year, priests, clergymen and catholic followers who are members of the Committees for Solidarity of Catholics across the province have actively participate in an emulation movement, entitled "unity in building a new life at home and doing good things for the religion and the nation”.

At the fifth congress of representatives of Vietnamese Catholics held in Hanoi on Nov. 19, Priest Tran Xuan Thao, Priest Nguyen Kim Doan, Priest Le Van Nang, Priest Le Vinh Hien, Nun Nguyen Thi Phuong, Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, a catholic, were elected as members of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity with Catholics (VCSC) for the 2008-2013 term.
