(ĐN)- The Viet Nam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair 2008 (VIFA 2008 ) will be opened on March 14 at Phu Tho Stadium in HCM City with the participation of 150 local and foreign exhibitors. The fair is organized by the HCM City Handicraft and Wood Industry Association in cooperation with Lien Minh Wood and Handicraft J.S Company.

Presently, wood products are among the top five dollar earners for Vietnam, behind crude oil, garments, footwear and seafood. The furniture processing and export sector has been developing strongly in the past several years, with total export sales reaching US$2.4 billion in 2007 compared to US$1.94 billion in 2006, US$1.58 billion in 2005 and only US$220 million in 2000 when Vietnam began exporting furniture products.

The exhibitors will display handicrafts and furniture, interior furnishing and accessories and equipment and tools for wood manufacturing and processing. The fair will be a good opportunity for foreign importers to develop trade opportunities and better understand their Vietnamese partners, and for local enterprises to introduce their image and products and seek business ties, said the organizers.
