(ĐN)- To respond to the Action Month for Poor Children (from May 15 to June 30, 2007 ), Committees for Population, Family and Children at all levels in the province cooperated with related agencies to hold a number of activities for children. Particularly, the provincial Committee for Population, Family and Children coordinated with Trieu An Hospital in HCM city to offer free heart operations for 14 children with total cost of more than VND600 million; the Committee also cooperated with the doctor delegation from HCM city to provide free surgeries to 55 disabled children. Moreover, a Children’s Festival had been held by the Committee and Dong Nai province Children House with the participation of nearly 2,000 children throughout the province. The Committee also mobilized the support of local benefactors to build 12 charity houses for children in difficult circumstances, present 1,100 gifts worth VND55 million to poor children in the province. The committees for Population, Family and Children of the districts, Long Khanh town and Bien Hoa city also granted more than 4,200 gifts with total value of over VND250 million to local poor children.
