France pledges to help Dong Nai in protecting and managing water resources

(ĐN)- Last week, a delegation of the Supreme Council for the Development of France-Viet Nam Economic Co-operation led by French Honorary Senator and co-chairman of the council Jacques Oudin paid a visit to Dong Nai.

(ĐN)- Last week, a delegation of the Supreme Council for the Development of France-Viet Nam Economic Co-operation led by French Honorary Senator and co-chairman of the council Jacques Oudin paid a visit to Dong Nai. As part of the cooperation agreement between France and Vietnam, the visit aimed to help Dong Nai in protecting and managing water resources in Dong Nai river basin.

During the stay in Dong Nai, the delegation held a working session with Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot and leaders of the Bien Hoa city People’s Committee and representatives of the Department of Natural Resource and Environment and Department of Construction of Dong Nai.

At the meeting, Chairman Vo Van Mot briefed on the present situation of environmental protection in Dong Nai and the present situation of water quality in Dong Nai river. Mot told that the implementation of environmental protection projects in Dong Nai river basin is currently underway under the sponsorship of Finance Ministry while the province is cooperating with neighboring localities such as Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in protecting water resources. He said that Thi Vai and Dong Nai rivers are suffering from pollution due to waste water from urban and industrial production units and rapid industrialization and urbanization has resulted in pollution in rivers. He also hoped to receive help from France in treating waste water.

Chairman of the council Jacques Oudin said that France always supports and assists Dong Nai with the development and the country is willing to share experience with Dong Nai in in protecting and managing water resources. He also expressed the desire to promote bilateral cooperation for sustainable development of the Dong Nai river basin and to share responsibility for the community’s health.
