Vocational education needed for hundreds of thousands of laborers in Dong Nai

(ĐN)- Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai and representatives of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province recently met with a delegation from Malaysia’s Penang Skill Development Centre (PSDC) to discuss the vocational education needs of Dong Nai.

(ĐN)- Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai and representatives of the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the department of Education and Training of Dong Nai province recently met with a delegation from Malaysia’s Penang Skill Development Centre (PSDC) to discuss the vocational education needs of Dong Nai.

Representatives of the provincial bodies reported at the meeting that about 500,000 people have been working in Dong Nai’s enterprises, only 31 per cent of whom has completed foundation and intermediate level training. They added the province had a total of 73 vocational training centres, of which, between 2 and 3 centres can provide highly skilled workers for industrial parks to meet the skills demands of enterprises. They also said that the vocational education is needed for thousands of students who fail to gain entry to universities and colleges every year.

Mr. Dato Boonler Somchit, chief executive officer of PSDC gave a briefing on the activities of the Centre. PSDC has made great strides in the field of education and skills training ever since its inception in 1989. Throughout its 18-year history, the PSDC has always emphasize on the importance of quality education and training, a formula that has formed the basis of PSDCs excellent track record.

Vice Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai applauded the delegation’s working visit to Dong Nai aiming to seek necessary information for the construction of vocational training center here. He said that the construction of the center in Ong Keo-Nhon Trach area is a good idea because it will meet demands in human resource training at industrial zones in the districts of Nhon Trach and Long Thanh.
