During their stay, the delegation held a working session with Director of the provincial health department Tu Thanh Chuong and the leaders of relevant agencies and departments. The delegation heard accounts of the problems and challenges of Dong Nai province’s health sector resulting from lack of human resource in hospitals, especially where specialists are required, a shortage of facilities in hospitals for clinical examination, overloading in hospitals and so on.
Deputy Minister of Health Tran Chi Liem highly praised the achievements made by Dong Nai province’s health sector during the past years. Liem stressed the need for Dong Nai’s the health sector to focus on controlling bird flu and foot and mouth disease epidemics, ensuring food hygiene and safety in industrial parks. He also urged the heath sector of the province to set up speciality hospitals and to provide the best medical care and treatment for social policy beneficiaries, the poor and children. He pointed out the need for the health sector to find options to solve overloading problem.
