The over-supply of ceramic and granite products in Dong Nai

(ĐN)- In recent years, the porcelain and ceramic production sector in Dong Nai has developed too fast; this lead to over supply in local ceramic tile market. According to the figures released by Dong Nai Province’s Construction Department, local enterprises produced around 120 million square meters of ceramic and granite tiles and 4.2 million pieces of sanitary products in 2005. Meanwhile, the local demands for these products only account for two third of total, the rest became redundant. Therefore, new projects for production of ceramic, granite and sanitary wares should be stopped at this time to prevent over supply issue. At the same time, local enterprises need to invest heavily in technology to produce higher quality products and diversify their product offerings for export market.
