Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung worked with the provincial leaders and local authorities in order to check and speed up the implementation of urgent action plan to prevent bird flu (H5N1) and H5N1 type A for humans. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung highly praised efforts made by the province to prevent an outbreak of H5N1 bird flu epidemic during the past time. However, he also suggested that Dong Nai province should take action to stop a bird flu pandemic before it can bust out in the province, carrying sickness and death here because the bird flu threat has grown around the globe. He emphasized that the province must promote propaganda that helps citizens better understand the hazardous harbinger of the possible pandemic to come. This encourages local people participation to effectively stop a bird flu pandemic. All poultry flocks in Dong Nai province have been vaccinated against bird flu. The province is keeping a close watch on local poultry flocks. At the same time, local breeders are always reminded that their animal housing and equipment or cages must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. In order to protect people in a deadly bird flu pandemic, Dong Nai will control quantities of food produced and promote food safety as well as set up quarantine inspection stations for livestock and poultry brought into the province without proper certificates, so the animals can be properly tested for diseases before they are sold in local market. The province will prepare and make ready certain things for providing emergency services and other medical care to possible bird flu victims.H.V
