(ĐN) - The Dong Nai investment promotion delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in the US on September 26. The delegation was warmly welcome by Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Tam Chien. On the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, he said that recent years witnessed the rapid development of bilateral economic relations since the US-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement entered into force on December 10, 2001. Trade flows between Vietnam and the United States grew from US$1.4 billion in 2001 up to US$ 6.4 billion in 2004. Especially, the official visit to the US by Prime Minister Phan Van Khai promotes the development of bilateral relations to a great extent and bring the bilateral relations to a new development stage toward a cooperative, stable and long-lasting relationship. Since then, many US investors, some of whom from big companies are eyeing business opportunities in Vietnam. Besides, Mr. Nguyen Tam Chien highly praised Dong Nai province for its efforts on spurring development and promoting investment in the US. He also said that what stood at the forefront of US investors worries now, was concerns over the administrative burden, bureaucracy, weak infrastructure and other obstacles in Vietnam. Therefore, all localities across Vietnam should further improve their investment climate and business environment that enables Vietnam to become an attractive and safe destination for the US investors.

Dong Nai provincial party committee secretary Tran Dinh Thanh, head of the Dong Nai investment promotion delegation to the US told Mr. Nguyen Tam Chien of the first seminar being held in New York city showed with great success.

The delegation has arrived Washington DC aiming to organize the second seminar which took place in Georgetown University on September 27.
