Experts on international tourism forecasted that Viet Nam would welcome roughly 3 – 3.5 million international visitors and 17 million domestic tourists in 2005. These figures were announced by World Tourism Organization at the seminar entitled “Development of Vietnam tourism industry” being held in Ho Chi Minh and Ha Noi cities during 2 days from 9 to 10 June. This year, turnover of tourism and hotels will reach US$ 2.5 billions in which that of foreign visitors make up 50%.
According to a researching result of Professor Ross Dowling, Edith Cowan University in Australia, Vietnam is able to promote further ecotourism because of its great potential for tourism with 13 National Parks and 5 places being recognized as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. By 2015, turnover of Vietnam tourism will hit US$ 17 billions. In which, the ecotourism will attract 20% of numbers of international visitors.
