Close-up of Long Thanh Airport's second runway nearing completion

After more than a year of construction, the second runway at Long Thanh International Airport is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned together with the rest of the airport project.

The second runway is among the additional investment components incorporated into Phase 1 of the Long Thanh International Airport project. It is being developed to meet operational demand and serve as a backup in case the first runway requires maintenance or experiences technical issues, an essential feature for a high-capacity airport. According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), construction package No. 4.12, covering the second runway, taxiways and associated facilities, has reached over 60% completion in terms of contract value. Photo by Pham Tung.
