Over 5,500 units of blood collected at Dong Nai General Hospital

On September 15, Dong Nai General Hospital held a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of its fixed blood donation site. The event was attended by Nguyen Van Binh, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Department of Health (DoH).

Dr. Dinh Cao Minh, Deputy Director in charge of Dong Nai General Hospital, said the fixed blood donation site was launched in late August 2025 through cooperation among the hospital, the Dong Nai City Red Cross Society and the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Hospital, with the support and approval of the DoH.

Initially operating three days a week, the fixed blood donation site now operates five days a week and on two Sunday mornings each month. After one year of operation, it has collected more than 5,500 units of blood. No serious incidents occurred during the collection process, and the quality of the blood units was assessed as meeting requirements. The site has become a familiar destination, making it more convenient for people wishing to donate blood. It has also helped build a regular and stable pool of blood donors to support emergency care and treatment.

Deputy Director of the DoH Nguyen Van Binh spoke highly of the results achieved by the fixed blood donation site at Dong Nai General Hospital. He stressed that blood and blood products are essential resources for emergency care, surgery and treatment. Therefore, maintaining a safe and timely blood supply is not only a professional requirement but also has significant social and humanitarian importance. The DoH will continue to study the model for wider application.

Pham Le Nhat Minh, Deputy Director of the Blood Transfusion Center of Cho Ray Hospital, said that following three rounds of assessment and supervision, the center found that the fixed blood donation site had operated very effectively and met all requirements for the organization and collection of donated blood. The collection of more than 5,500 units of whole blood over the past year not only demonstrates the effectiveness of the blood donation site but also reflects the trust, sense of responsibility and humanitarian spirit of the voluntary blood donor community.

On this occasion, the DoH presented certificates of merit to four organizations and six individuals for their significant contributions to the establishment and development of the fixed blood donation site at Dong Nai General Hospital. The hospital also commended and expressed its appreciation to individuals who have actively donated blood and encouraged others to donate.
