(ĐN)- Thong Nhat General Hospital’s doctors successfully reconnected the left wrist of a 30-year-old patient Bui Van Diep living in Bien Hoa city in a 10-hour surgery.

The man was taken to the hospital on December 22 after his left wrist was cut off by a scimitar in a fight in a blood loss situation. The wrist was frozen in ice for several hours prior to arrival at the hospital.

To reattach the severed hand, doctors performed microsurgery, a form of plastic surgery in which they reconnect bone, muscles, nerves, and blood vessels.

The patient has recovered and can already move the fingers slightly.
