As Dong Nai accelerates industrialisation and modernisation, its young workforce is becoming one of the city's key assets in boosting productivity, developing modern industry and reaching new heights.
On automated production lines at local enterprises, workers are continually developing their skills to meet the demands of modern manufacturing. Young workers are not relying on their energy and adaptability alone; they are also strengthening their technical expertise, language skills and digital capabilities to master new technologies and meet the labour market’s increasingly demanding requirements.
No longer just workers following machines
One morning at Thien Long Long Thanh Manufacturing Trading Co., Ltd. in An Phuoc Commune, the steady hum of machinery fills the air. Robotic arms move rhythmically and precisely, automated systems place components in their designated positions, while screens display continuously updated production parameters. On the modern production line, young workers not only perform repetitive tasks but also directly monitor technical parameters, check data and program settings for different product models, and enter production results into the system.

Tran Van Thao, a worker at Thien Long Long Thanh Company, said that as equipment and technology continue to evolve, workers must keep learning and updating their knowledge to meet job requirements. Understanding how machinery works, mastering technical parameters and following established procedures help improve productivity, reduce errors and ensure product quality.
At Anh Duong Irradiation Technology JSC, which specialises in industrial irradiation, cold storage and logistics at Long Thanh High-Tech Industrial Park, many young workers are mastering modern equipment and technology through pre-programmed computer-based control systems. Their work requires not only equipment operation skills but also a thorough understanding of technical procedures and operating parameters, as well as the ability to promptly handle situations as they arise, ensuring that production runs continuously, safely and efficiently.
Pham The Bao, a machine operations engineer at Anh Duong Irradiation Technology JSC, said: “As machinery becomes more advanced, those who fail to keep learning and updating their knowledge risk falling behind. I regularly study automation, read technical documents and improve my English to better understand how equipment works and the procedures for operating it. This helps keep the machinery running reliably and ensures smooth operations.”
Nguyen Quoc Truong, a board member of Anh Duong Radiation Technology JSC, said improving workforce quality had become an urgent priority as enterprises accelerated automation and digital transformation. For young workers, acquiring vocational skills, mastering technology and adapting to new production methods are essential not only to performing their jobs well but also to improving their skills, advancing their careers and realising their potential in the modern workplace.
Mastering advanced technologies
Advances in automation, artificial intelligence, digital technologies and smart manufacturing are changing the role of workers in factories. Although machines can take over many tasks previously performed by people, they also place greater demands on those operating them. Workers must do more than follow instructions: they need to interpret data, identify problems, use technology effectively and, above all, keep learning.

Across the manufacturing sector, young workers are adapting to the changes brought by Industry 4.0. At Topband Smart Dong Nai (Viet Nam) Co., Ltd. in Long Thanh Ward, for example, many young employees have quickly adapted to their jobs and are steadily mastering production technologies. Adopting new technologies helps the company improve productivity and product quality, while raising expectations for workers’ technical knowledge, occupational skills and adaptability.
Zeng Ping, Head of the Technical Department at Topband Smart Dong Nai (Viet Nam) Co., Ltd., said that high-tech manufacturing offers workers opportunities to work with advanced machinery and electronic systems. To use these technologies effectively, however, they must take the initiative in learning, keep their knowledge up to date and continually improve their skills to meet the company’s growing demands.
While workers in the electronics industry must adapt to automation and data-driven processes, precision engineering demands a high level of technical expertise. Nguyen Trong Duc, a worker at Vietnam Precision Industrial Joint Stock Company (VPIC) in Ho Nai Ward, is among the young workers trained to operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines and other advanced machining equipment. Before each shift, he must check operating parameters, read technical drawings, configure machine programmes, monitor machining processes and inspect finished products.
Dong Nai is stepping up industrial development and attracting high-tech investment, driving growing demand for skilled technical workers. Young workers, with their physical stamina, adaptability and ability to learn new technologies quickly, are an important asset. With proper training, opportunities for career development and encouragement to innovate, they can become a core workforce for operating, managing and mastering technology at local enterprises.
According to Duc, even a small deviation in the machining process can affect the quality of precision-engineered products. Operators must therefore be proficient in using machinery, understand product characteristics and master technical specifications and production procedures. As technology advances, a willingness to learn proactively and acquire new knowledge is essential for every young worker.
A new generation of young workers with solid knowledge, strong technical and language skills, digital competence and a spirit of innovation is essential to building a modern workforce and helping Dong Nai establish itself as a dynamic, modern industrial centre in an increasingly integrated global economy.
