The development of e-commerce is helping enhance the commercial value of local products, expand their markets, and bring Dong Nai’s specialties and products under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program closer to consumers.

One of the key solutions for developing e-commerce in Dong Nai is to help local businesses expand their e-commerce channels while developing a skilled workforce in the field.

Strengthening connectivity and product promotion

In recent years, departments and agencies in Dong Nai have implemented a range of measures to provide technical support and build digital brands for local products. They have also worked with relevant organizations to help businesses, cooperatives and OCOP producers improve their skills in operating online stores, livestreaming, product storytelling, and using platforms such as TikTok Shop and Shopee to boost sales.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT), in the early months of this year, the department worked with commune- and ward-level People's Committees to encourage local business households to register “biz.vn” domain names. The program aims to raise awareness of the benefits of using the national “.vn” domain, assess demand for domain registration, and provide guidance on using websites and email services and connecting them with digital platforms such as sales management software, e-invoices and digital payment systems.

At the same time, the department has implemented a program to promote the consumption of products and services through digital channels. The program covers placing products on digital platforms, equipping people with digital skills, providing digital services to facilitate online transactions, and building trust in the digital environment. It also provides guidance, training and support to help people join major e-commerce marketplaces, while promoting cross-border e-commerce to support key export sectors.

Communes and wards have also stepped up efforts to connect supply and demand and promote trade through digital channels. They have organized livestreaming sessions to promote and sell local products, particularly key products and OCOP products.

In September 2026, the Dinh Quan commune General Services Center (DQGSC) organized a livestreaming session to sell OCOP products.

Bui Thanh Canh, Deputy Director of the DQGSC, said the livestream was organized to promote local specialties and distinctive products to a wider range of consumers while contributing to the commune’s efforts to meet the criteria for new-style rural development. The activity also sought to promote the application of digital technology and e-commerce in promoting and selling OCOP products, agricultural products and local specialties from Dinh Quan to consumers both inside and outside the locality. It also helped cooperatives, cooperative groups and local producers and businesses gain access to modern sales methods, increase revenues and strengthen their digital transformation capacity.

Nguyen Nho Kien, Director of Meerkat Travel Co., Ltd. in Dinh Quan commune, said livestreaming to promote local products has provided the company with an additional channel to promote its brand and distinctive products. Meerkat Travel currently offers the “Discover Gia Canh – A Land of Peace” tour, one of Dong Nai’s three-star OCOP tourism products. In the coming time, the company hopes relevant departments and agencies and Dinh Quan commune will continue to support businesses in promoting local products, including community-based and ecotourism products, through digital platforms, with more regular livestreaming programs and activities. This will make product promotion more effective and help more people learn about local products.

In the coming period, the department will step up support for local businesses and OCOP producers across the city. In particular, it will strengthen the role of the innovation and startup space by organizing intensive training courses on digital marketing, short-form video marketing, livestreaming skills for selling OCOP agricultural products, and the use of artificial intelligence to create product advertising content. The department will also coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to develop a shared database of scientific and technological products, OCOP products and the city’s key agricultural products.

Promoting sustainable digital economy development

The municipal People's Committee has issued Decision No. 70/2026/QD-UBND promulgating regulations on coordination in state management to ensure e-commerce security and promote e-commerce activities in Dong Nai. The decision took effect on September 1, 2026. One of the regulations calls for coordination in organizing training and capacity-building activities to improve management capabilities and develop human resources for e-commerce and the digital economy. It also provides for consultancy and support to help businesses adopt and apply e-commerce.

According to the DoIT, it will continue to strengthen supply-demand connections through digital platforms and bring OCOP products, rural industrial products and local specialties to e-commerce marketplaces and platforms. The department will also support businesses, cooperatives and business establishments in choosing and joining suitable e-commerce platforms.

At a mid-September working session with the DoIT to review the implementation of its tasks, identify bottlenecks and discuss solutions and plans for the period ahead, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc called on the department to step up measures to promote trade development. In particular, the department should strengthen support for businesses and cooperatives in promoting local specialties, accessing major distribution systems and e-commerce marketplaces, and joining domestic and international supply chains.
