Work accelerates on two key transport links to Long Thanh Airport

The upgrading, expansion, and construction of key sections of Provincial Roads 25B and 25C are regarded as two critical pieces of the broader transport network connecting Long Thanh International Airport with expressways and ring roads. Together, they will establish a major transport corridor linking the airport with Ho Chi Minh City and other localities.

Construction on the Road 25C Investment and Construction Project is being accelerated, with completion slated for October 2026.

Both projects are now being fast-tracked to ensure they are completed in time for the airport's planned commencement of operations.

Road 25C nears completion

The first section of the Road 25C Construction Project covers more than 2.6 kilometers from National Highway 51 to Huong Lo 19. This stretch is built to complete the Road 25C corridor from National Highway 51 to the Cat Lai Bridge area. Once completed, the route will connect Long Thanh International Airport with National Highway 51, the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway, and Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3. Together with the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway, Road 25C will serve as a major transport artery, helping distribute traffic flows between the airport and Ho Chi Minh City.

Construction on the Road 25C began in early 2025, with Phase 1 featuring a 45-meter-wide cross section. The project also includes three intersections with Huong Lo 19, Huong Lo 12, and National Highway 51, as well as the construction of the new Ba Ky Bridge, measuring more than 24.5 meters in length.

The project initially fell behind schedule due to land clearance issues. However, after those obstacles were resolved, construction gained momentum. According to the Dong Nai City Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project owner, approximately 60% of the contracted work has now been completed. On the main roadway, two layers of asphalt concrete have been laid over a 1.1-kilometer section. have been laid along a 1.1-kilometer section. For the bridge component, contractors are constructing the foundation, piers, abutments, and cross beams on the left side of the route.

Dong Nai City Construction Investment Project Management Board has urged the Nhon Trach Branch of the Land Fund Development Center and the Department of Science and Technology to direct telecommunications management units to relocate technical infrastructure at the Huong Lo 19 intersection before July 30, 2026.

According to representatives of Cuong Thuan IDICO Development Investment Corporation, a member of the construction consortium, the entire project site has now been handed over, enabling contractors to accelerate construction.

With the current pace of work, the Road 25C project is expected to be completed in October 2026.

Early completion of site clearance for Road 25B

Another strategic project enhancing connectivity to Long Thanh International Airport is the Road 25B Upgrading and Expansion Project, extending from Nhon Trach Ward center to National Highway 51. Construction began in early 2025 and involves widening the 9.2-kilometer route to an ultimate cross-section width of 80 meters.

According to the city's Construction Investment Project Management Board, overall construction progress has reached 60% of the contract value. The left-side main carriageway has been completed and opened to traffic, while work continues on the right-side carriageway and two parallel service roads. However, progress remains constrained by incomplete site handover. Approximately 92% of the required land has been handed over, but several remaining parcels are fragmented, preventing contractors from carrying out drainage, earthworks, and road construction in a synchronized manner.

Dao Minh Tam, Vice Chairman of the Nhon Trach Ward People's Committee, said that around 50 cases along the route have yet to hand over their land. Local authorities are continuing public outreach and persuasion efforts while completing legal procedures for compulsory land acquisition where necessary to expedite site clearance.

In Long Thanh Ward, authorities are also working to resolve the final remaining case to complete site handover  for the project.

According to Luong The Hoang, Project Manager at Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (VINACONEX), the contractor for the project, main obstacles facing the project have largely been resolved, and the contractor is ready to accelerate construction once the remaining site is fully handed over.

Meanwhile, according to Dinh Tien Hai, Director of the city's Construction Investment Project Management Board, once the site for the Road 25B Upgrading and Expansion Project is fully handed over, the contractor will complete construction within approximately three months.
