Industrial promotion program gives enterprises a boost for sustainable growth

As businesses face growing pressure from market competition and the accelerating shift toward digitalization and green production, Dong Nai's industrial promotion program is evolving beyond financial support for machinery purchases to help enterprises modernize technology, expand markets, and enhance competitiveness.

The new approach is expected to strengthen the contribution of the rural industrial sector to Dong Nai City's overall economic development.

Businesses step up efforts

Dong Nai is home to numerous enterprises and rural industrial establishments operating in agriculture and food processing, mechanical engineering, woodworking, handicrafts, and construction materials. For many years, the industrial promotion program has served as a support policy for rural industrial establishments by partially funding investments in machinery and equipment or their participation in trade fairs and exhibitions. This approach has helped many establishments modernize production and improve labor productivity.

In 2025, Gia Bao Group Joint Stock Company, based in Binh Phuoc Ward, received national recognition from the Ministry of Industry and Trade after one of its products was named a National Outstanding Rural Industrial Product. The award acknowledged the company's efforts to improve product quality, build a sustainable brand, and contribute to Vietnam's agricultural sector. Several of its products have also earned four-star certification under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, helping promote local specialties to consumers nationwide.

Meanwhile, Thuan Huong Trading and Manufacturing Co., Ltd., located in Thong Nhat Commune, has invested in freeze-drying and heat-drying production lines, as well as vacuum packaging technology. The upgrades have improved product quality, extended shelf life, and enabled the company to meet the requirements of a wider range of export markets. According to Executive Director Liu Thi Yen, the investment marks an important step in enhancing the value of Dong Nai's agricultural products and transforming local specialties into internationally competitive commodities.

These innovative production models have all benefited from Dong Nai's industrial promotion program. Through support for machinery investment, workforce training, trade promotion, and brand development, the program has become an important catalyst, encouraging food-processing enterprises to adopt new technologies, improve product quality, and expand their markets.

Making industrial promotion a true growth lever

Despite these achievements, most rural industrial enterprises remain small- and medium-sized businesses with limited financial resources, and investing in technological upgrades remains a significant challenge. Although the sector holds considerable potential, it is also highly vulnerable to market fluctuations without appropriate policy support.

As market conditions evolve and product quality standards, environmental requirements, and digital transformation become increasingly important, equipment subsidies alone are no longer sufficient to help businesses build sustainable competitive advantages.

Against this backdrop, Dong Nai's 2026-2030 Industrial Promotion Program is shifting from merely supporting machinery investment to partnering with enterprises on technological innovation, competitiveness enhancement, and sustainable development. With total projected funding of more than VND55.7 billion, the program aims to develop rural industry and handicrafts in connection with new-style rural development and economic restructuring toward industrialization and modernization.

In addition, the industrial promotion program is closely linked to Dong Nai's broader goal of restructuring its industrial sector toward more modern, greener, and higher-value-added production. Under this approach, rural industrial enterprises are encouraged not only to invest in equipment but also to gradually modernize their management practices, improve product quality, and participate more deeply in manufacturing value chains.

According to Tran Minh Dat, Director of the Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consultancy Center under the Department of Industry and Trade, the center has invited rural industrial enterprises to register their demand for machinery and equipment support in 2026 and has conducted field surveys to identify the most appropriate assistance for each project.

As Dong Nai continues to pursue modern and sustainable industrial development, strengthening the rural industrial sector remains a priority. When industrial promotion policies are implemented in line with businesses' practical needs, they can become powerful drivers of technological innovation, improved competitiveness, and stronger contributions to Dong Nai City's economic growth.

By 2030, Dong Nai aims to establish five pilot models for sustainable production and consumption based on circular economy principles at rural industrial enterprises, while supporting 48 enterprises in adopting advanced machinery and production technologies.
