Shopping traffic at supermarkets rises sharply during the 2026 New Year holiday

Recorded at many supermarkets and shopping centers across Dong Nai province, the number of visitors coming to visit and shop increased by 10-30% during the 2026 New Year holiday.

During this period, supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience store chains launched various consumption-stimulating activities to attract customers, while also proactively preparing goods and allocating additional staff and checkout counters to serve shoppers. Representatives of many supermarkets and shopping centers said that customer traffic peaked on January 1 and January 2.

Do Doan Thanh, Head of the Marketing Department of Co.opmart Dong Xoai Supermarket (in Binh Phuoc ward, Dong Nai province), said: During the recent New Year holiday, the supermarket welcomed about 3.5-3.7 thousand visitors per day to visit and shop, an increase of about 20% compared to a typical weekend day.

Le Van Hong, Director of GO! Dong Nai Supermarket (Long Hung ward, Dong Nai province) reported that the supply of goods to meet the year-end shopping peak and the New Year at the supermarket was relatively abundant. During the recent New Year's holiday, the supermarket received an average of about 8,000 visitors per day for sightseeing and shopping, with peak traffic on January 1 exceeding 10,000 visitors.

Le Duc Thuan, Director of Lotte Mart Dong Nai (Long Binh ward, Dong Nai province), stated that during the 2026 New Year holiday, the supermarket introduced numerous promotional programs and significant incentives. As a result, the number of shoppers increased by 20 to 30 percent compared to a regular weekend.

Similarly, according to Vo Thanh Lan, Director of Co.opmart Dong Phu Supermarket (Dong Phu commune, Dong Nai province), the number of customers visiting and shopping at the supermarket during the recent four-day holiday increased by 20 percent compared to a typical weekend, with traffic concentrated mainly in the first two days of the break.

Nguyen Duong The Kiet, Manager of Kohnan Bien Hoa Supermarket (Tam Hiep ward, Dong Nai province), shared that the number of shoppers during the recent New Year holiday increased by about 10 to 15 percent, with most visiting on January 1 and January 2.
