(ĐN)- According to Dong Nai provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the province's pig herd has reached nearly 1.7 million, over 100,000 pigs higher the same period in 2015.

Presently, farmers in the province supply nearly 9,400 tons of pork every month to the market. The main markets of Dong Nai’s pigs are Ho Chi Minh city and neighboring provinces, accounting 60-70% of the total live pigs.

The province currently has the largest pig herd in the country. Nearly 70% of the pigs are being raised under concentrated farming model. Dong Nai’s pigs are sold with higher prices, VND2,000-3000 per kg, than the other localities due to its more delicious quality of meat.

The province is building large breeding zones which can help farmers ensure the epidemic diseases control and prevention.
