(ĐN)- As one of the first foreign investors landing on Dong Nai, French businesses have been considered as the province's important economic partners.

During the last years, 15 French projects have been licensed in the province with a total investment of US$100 million. The projects mainly focus on agriculture, garments, aircraft component and education. Several projects with large investment capital included Amata IP-based Bayer Vietnam valued at US$ 34 million, Scavi, US$23.5 million, Artus VN in Bien Hoa 2 IP, US$17 million.

Most of French investors have been doing successfully in Dong Nai; therefore, many of them have planned to expand production and investment.

Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam and France have seen continuous increases in trade and investment cooperation. Vietnam, as a destination for investment, is a priority for French businesses; it is hoped that the government will continue providing preferential policies for French investors.

Over the past time, France has boosted education cooperation with Dong Nai  and sponsored projects on education in Sonadezi College of Technology and Management, Dong Nai Vocational College, Nguyen Du primary school and Nguyen Binh Khiem junior high school.

Deputy Head Mai Van Nhon of the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority said that Dong Nai always sees investors as part of its economy, making great contributions to the province’s development. He added that local government has created favourable conditions for French investors with a long-term view to do business in the locality.

The province is estimated to earn around US$200 million from exports to France. Dong Nai mainly exports textile and garment, footwear, coffee, wood and timber products, and spare parts to France, while importing machinery, equipment, cattle food, plant protection products and raw materials, rubber, chemical, and pharmaceuticals.

It is expected that Vietnam-EU free trade agreement will provide more opportunities for French investment and trade in Vietnam generally and Dong Nai particularly, and vice versa.
