According to the report, Dong Nai has so far this year fulfilled and exceeded many socio-economic targets. Accordingly, in 2014, the province is estimated to fulfill 22 out of 31 norms for socio-economic development and 8 of them are estimated to exceed last year's showing.
As of Mid-October, the province has attracted nearly US$1.3 billion in FDI, exceeding the year’s target. It is estimated to lure around US$1.6 billion in FDI by the end of 2014, rising by 23 percent from a year earlier.
The province’s domestic investment attraction in this period reached nearly VND8.6 trillion, and is estimated at VND9 trillion in 2014, increasing 12.5% over the same period in 2013 and exceeding 20% of this year’s target.
Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment Bo Ngoc Thu said that the increasing Dong Nai’s FDI attraction in 2014 is attributed to the province had effectively carried out investment promotion and investors have been thus informed clearly of local situations before they make investment decisions.
Many investors from Japan, Republic of Korea, and Taiwan have paid fact-finding visits learn about the investment environment and many of them has increased their investment in Dong Nai.
In addition, Dong Nai’s ten-month export earnings rose 15.18% to US$10.4 billion. It is expected that the province will earn nearly US$12.6 billion from exports in 2014 and its trade surplus is estimated at some US$380 million.
The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2014 is estimated to rise by 11.5% from a year earlier. Dong Nai’s GRDP per capita is VND59.5 million.
Addressing at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Phuc asked the departments, agencies and localities to continue efforts to restructure industrial sector, as well as boosting the application of science and technology into production to raise the quality of the products.
He also stressed that efforts must be made to develop the construction of new rural areas in order to improve the spiritual and material lives for the people in the remote areas.
