The expressway project has total length of 57.8 kilometers, running through Long An province, HCM city and Dong Nai province.
The highway is built under expressway standard-Level A with designed speed of 100 km/h. The Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway has four lanes in the designing map.

There are two big suspension bridges on the expressway, including Binh Khanh bridge, crossing the Soai Rap river and connecting Nha Be district in HCMC and Dong Nai province’s Nhon Trach district; and Phuoc Khanh bridge, which crosses the Long Tau river and connects Can Gio and Nha Be districts in HCM city.

The project has an investment capital of 31.3 trillion VND (1.6 billion) for phase I. The investment includes loans of US$635 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and US$635 million from Japan, the rest comes from the State budget.

The road is expected to facilitate transport between eastern and western parts of southern Vietnam, helping to reduce traffic congestion on the current National Highway 1 in Ho Chi Minh Chi and National Highway 51 in Dong Nai.
