Bad debts make up 3.11 pct of total loans

(ĐN)- Figures from Dong Nai Branch of State Bank showed that as of end-June the total bad debts of commercial banks in the province reached VND1.9 trillion, accounting for 3.11% of total outstanding loans.

(ĐN)- Figures from Dong Nai Branch of State Bank showed that as of end-June the total bad debts of commercial banks in the province reached VND1.9 trillion, accounting for 3.11% of total outstanding balances of the banking sector compared to 2.83% recorded at the beginning of this year.

The branch reports that the fifth-group debts stood at VND833 billion, making up 1.3 of total loans.

Under Decision 493 issued by the central bank, bank loans are classified into five groups, including the first group (standard debts), second group (noted debts), third group (substandard debts), fourth group (doubtful debts) and fifth group (potentially irrecoverable debts).

Non-performing loans of state commercial banks in the province were estimated at more than VND900 billion, making up 50% of total bad debts.

Dong Nai targets to reduce non-performing loans to below 3% by the end of 2012.
