(ĐN)- Compared to the beginning of the year, total lending for consumption in the first ten months of the year in Dong Nai province dropped significantly. By the end of October, the loans for consumption accounted for 5.82 percent of the total outstanding loans of the whole banking system in Dong Nai, reported Dong Nai Branch of the State Bank of Vietnam.

The lending rates as high as over 20 per cent in some banks have cut back demand for consumption loans. In addition, many banks are not willing to provide loans for consumption despite increasing demand from borrowers.

Dong Nai based banks have provided nearly 30 per cent of total loans to small and medium enterprises so far this year. By the end of October, real estate loans accounted for close to 9.5 percent of the total outstanding loans of the whole banking system in Dong Nai.
